Virginia Beach – Deborah Brown, a resident of Virginia Beach, passed away peacefully at her home at the age of 65 on August 25, 2025. Known for her strength, humor, and deep love of dogs, her life touched the hearts of many family members and friends.

Born in Orlando, Florida to Danny Craven and Judy Davis, Deborah exhibited a strong spirit and independence from a young age. Her career began in the hospitality industry as the manager of Phillip’s Seafood Restaurant, but she later ventured into the male-dominated construction sector. Demonstrating skill and determination, Deborah performed tasks such as hanging drywall and repairing various items, challenging stereotypes and proving that women can excel in any field.

Deborah had a special affinity for her home and preferred staying there rather than going on vacations, primarily because she did not want to leave her beloved dogs behind. Her household was lively and vibrant, filled with her loyal canine companions: Mia, Junior, Buddy, Charlie Brown, and Taz. Deborah’s genuine affection for dogs was evident to all who knew her, and it was said that her vision of heaven included a large off-leash dog park.

In addition to her career and love for animals, Deborah was a devoted family member. She was married to Michael Brown for 29 years, a union that blossomed after they met through a mutual friend. Deborah also took great pride in being a stepmother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her husband, stepdaughter Marilyn (Frankie) Joseph, grandchildren Ryan (Casey) and Caitlin, as well as great-grandchildren Remy and Emmy. Deborah also left behind several sisters-in-law, including Marilyn Ostrum, Shelia Murphy, and Ann Wallace, among others, as well as brothers-in-law Tommy Brown, Donald Brown, and Gary Brown.

A beloved member of her community, Deborah was known for her willingness to assist her friends at any time. She created enduring bonds with friends from the Frog Sports Bar and Grill, including Ashley, Patty, Ronnie, Cherie, and many others, as well as with her neighbors Sara and Zak. Her family and friends have found comfort in the cherished memories they hold of her love and generosity.

Deborah’s life, marked by grit and a remarkable sense of humor, was greatly influenced by her devotion to her family and her unconditional love for dogs. She was a beloved figure who not only brought joy to her loved ones but also spread positivity to those around her. Though Deborah was preceded in death by her parents and her honorary mother Stella Lamm, her legacy of strength, love, and joy will continue to inspire those who knew her.

Private celebrations in her honor will be held to remember and cherish her life, and donations made in her name will support her lifelong dedication to canine companions, reflecting the love she had for her dogs throughout her life.
